PulsPlasma® CVD Utilization |
Valve bodies and deep-drawing dies, even with undercuts and bored holes, can be coated with a wear-resistant hard material layer at treatment temperatures below 550°C.
Tools made of super high speed steel (HSS) or cold work steel, such as milling cutters or forming tools, can be initially plasma-nitrided and subsequently CVD-coated in a single process.
This combined treatment will greatly enhance the product's service life.
It improves the adhesion of the hard coating while increasing the substrate's load-bearing strength through the preceding plasma nitriding step (without white layer)
| TOOLS : | ||
|---|---|---|
| => | Carbide, HSS | |
| => | high speed steel, HSS | |
| => | high speed steel, HSS | |
| => | cold working steel | |
| SPECIALITIES : | ||
|---|---|---|
| => | negligible by reduction of heat treating temperature | |
| => | no, because distortion and increase of surface roughness negligible, so that finally machined parts can be treated | |
| => | very good, due to excellent temperature distribution even for complicated contours | |
| => | The heating of sharp edges can be controlled by PulsPlasma®, so that an overheating is prevented | |
| => | By the PulsPlasma® nitriding a good support for thin hard coating can be obtained | |
| => | reliable by metal or paste coating | |
| => | not necessary | |
| EXAMPLE : | ||
|---|---|---|
| Cutting inserts made of carbides will reach a high increase of lifetime by plasma assisted CVD | ||
| Milling cutters: A pre-treatment by PulsPlasma® nitriding the wear of sharp edges by breaking out of material is reduced. | ||
