Example of treated parts      Plasma Polymerisation
Utilization

Aluminium heat exchangers for condensing boilers can be given an outstanding corrosion resistance, even to aggressive media such as sulphurous acid, by plasma polymerizing.

The plasma polymerization coating has a high density but measures less than 1µm in thickness; even if mechanically damaged, it will not permit further subsurface corrosion.

In medical equipment, chemically inert dry anti-friction coatings on plastic products can often eliminate the need for lubricants such as silicone oils.

Heat exchangers are selectively coated with a hydrophobic plasma polymer layer that protects against ice formation in long-term operation by preventing dew droplets from adhering to the metal.

Medical Equipment :

   Syringes      =>      dry lubrication between barrel (polycarbonate) and plunger (elastomer)
   Connecting sleeves      =>      dry lubrication (polycarbonate)
   Membrane      =>      hydrophobic coating (polycarbonate)
   Catheters      =>      anti-friction coating (polypropylene)

Corrosion Protection :

   Finned heat exchangers      =>      polymerization of aluminium surfaces
   Car wheels      =>      polymerization of aluminium surfaces
   Marine fittings      =>      polymerization of aluminium surfaces

Particularities :

   Coating thickness ?      =>      very thin (less than 1µm, down to a few nanometers)
   Continuity ?      =>      extremely high, without pores or gaps
   Uniformity ?      =>      good even complex three-dimensional surfaces can be uniformly coated.
